Gynaecology

Bleeding Abnormalities 

Cycle Abnormalites, bleeding between periods, prolonged, excessive or heavy bleeding, irregular bleeding with no pattern.

Bleeding after Sex could suggestive of some underlying concerns and need evaluation.

A normal healthy period should las 4-5 days and if it lasts more than 1 week or less than 2 days, this could be an indicator if something is out of balance.  A normal cycles may vary by a few days but should not vary more than one week. If you cycle is longer than 5 weeks or less than 3 weeks, this can be a sign of problem. 

We offer tablets (medications, hormone pills), Devices (Mirena) and Surgery ( Endometrial ablation & Hysterectomy).

Endometriosis

This is condition where cells of the inner lining of the uterus are found outside the uterus for example inside the belly, on the bowel. This is a silent pandemic having significant impact on quality of life of woem especially school going young girls. We run test (Ultrasound, MRI ) including laparoscopy for diagnosis and advise proper management including further Surgery, Hormones. 

Chronic Pelvic Pain

This is a disabling condition with significant impact on quality of life. Women present with chronic persistent pain in the area below the belly button and pelvis lasts 6 month or longer. It occurs in about 1/6 women. There are many causes of pain including bowel, bladder, infection, Muscles or Nerve involvement. We provide counselling, detailed evaluation and management.

Uterine Fiborids and Ovarian cysts

Fiboird and Cyst present with pain , discomfort or heavy menstural bleeding. We run test for diagnosis like ultrasound, and provide management (medical and surgical) depending upon the size and location of fibroid and size and type of cyst. 

Cervical screen Abnormalities (Pap smear) - Colposcopy

You have cervical screen every 5 years since 25yrs of age which checks for Human papilloma virus which can cause cancers including cervix, vulva, vagina. Not all HPV infections lead to cancer but they do need to be checked. We provide Colposcopy (Examination of the Cervix with Microscope) for cervical screening abnormalities and perform a detailed check for any abnormalities. Biopsy may be required if any concerns on examination (with consent)

Prolapse

Vaginal prolapse is a common condition where the bladder, uterus  or bowel protrudes into the vagina. This can cause sensation of lump in vagina, constipation, difficulty emptying the bowel or bladder or problems with Sexual intercourse. Treatment is only recommended when the prolapse is symptomatic. 

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

PCOS is a problem with hormones that happen during the reproductive years. You may have Irregular or prolonged periods and excess acne, hair growth or polycytsic ovaries. We help in diagnosis, surveillacne and proper management.

Bleeding after Menopause: (Postmenopausal Bleeding)

Bleeding (blood on wiping, spotting, heavy bleeding) after menopuase could be due to many factors and need detailed evaluation. Few percentage could be associated with Precancer and Cancer. We perform and detailed check and management. This includes camera check of uterus ( hysteroscopy)

Menopause & Incontinence

We help in evaluating menopausal symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, lack of sleep, anxiety and assessing suitablity for Hormone replacement therapy. We provide counselling, management and surveillance.

Vulval conditions

Itching, soreness or any abnormality in the vulvla area at any age is evaluated and addressed. This includes thrush, painful vulva, Lichen sclerosis or precancer. We perform a detailed check of vulva with colposcope and biopsy if any concerns.

Failure to achieve a pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular protected intercourse. It affects millions of people and has an impact on their families and communities. The problem could be in eggs formation, Blocked tubes, partner semen or Unexplained (no obvious cause found). We provide detailed evaluation and early steps in treatment for getting pregnant. 

Pre Pregnancy Planning (Preconception Counselling)

This is an appointment with your doctor before you concieve, that's used to plan for a future pregnancy. It is beneficial for the mother as well as the baby during the term of pregnancy. It allows for risk assessment, intervention and medical optimization before pregnancy to improve maternal and fetal outcomes.

We provide deatiled discussion for different contraceptive choices as we believe no one options fits all. It is as per individual history, any clinical concerns and personal beliefs and choices. This includes Natural methods, Pills, Mirena, Kyleena, Copper IUD and Tubes tying (tubal ligation / Sterlisation).
